Steve Sandlin is celebrating his 50th anniversary in Texas broadcasting.  A native of Beaumont, Steve resides in Huntsville.  Though semi-retired, he still acts as a consultant and project manager for radio and television stations throughout the state, with emphasis on AM signals and other RF projects.

Steve also remains active as one of TAB’s Alternate Broadcast Inspection Program (ABIP) inspectors covering the southern half of Texas.  Steve has been on the inspection team for nine years.

Steve has been a DJ, Sales Manager, Newsman, Staff Engineer and Chief Engineer of both radio and television stations in Texas and has been involved in everything from management changes to new station construction in a number of markets.

Steve is a founding member of SBE Chapter 99 and holds lifetime certification as a Certified Professional Broadcast Engineer.  He also holds a valid FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License and is a member of Texas Radio Hall of Fame and is proud to have been recognized with an Award of Excellence in 2015 at the TAB Engineers Dinner.

When not working around a transmitter or conducting an ABIP review, Steve enjoys spending time with his classic cars along with other business ventures.

Wayne Kube

Wayne Kube’s career in Broadcasting spans over 50 years.  In his very early years, he started out as an announcer/engineer at KZOL-AM radio, 250 watts daytime station in Farwell, TX.

Wayne joined the US Air Force in 1972 where he specialized in the radar/electronics field for almost a decade.   

Beginning in 1980, Wayne spent the next chapter of his Broadcast Engineering career as the Chief Engineer at KBTX-TV in Bryan, Texas.  Wayne was founding member & president of SBE Chapter 99 in Bryan.

In 1990, Wayne moved to Dallas where he was Engineering Manager/designated chief operator at WFAA-TV.

In 2000, Wayne became the Director of Engineering & FCC Compliance at Belo Corp in Dallas.

In 2013 Wayne became a Consulting Engineer for Gannett/TEGNA Television and Hearst Television,

Wayne is currently one of the TAB ABIP Inspectors, a position he has held since 2014.

Harvey Arnold

Harvey Arnold is Senior Vice President, Engineering for Sinclair Broadcast Group and has been with the company for 25 years. He is responsible for engineering activities, supporting approximately 185 television stations spanning over 600 channels in 86 markets.

Prior to joining Sinclair, Arnold spent 17 years with North Carolina Public Television, where he managed and expanded the engineering as well as transmission activities of one of the largest state-wide Public Television networks in the country. Harvey served as an engineering consultant for PBS and its member stations. He was an active member of the FCC Advisory Committee for Advanced Television Service (ACATS) to develop the ATSC standard and to implement over-the-air digital television in the United States.

Harvey holds a BS in Communications from the University of Wisconsin.  He is a member of the SMPTE Board of Editors and is a SMPTE Fellow.  Additionally, Harvey serves as Vice-Chair of the NAB TV Technology Committee. He is active in many broadcast-related technical organizations such as ATSC, Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) and The Association of Federal Communications Consulting Engineers (AFCCE). Harvey is the recipient of the Broadcasting & Cable Technical Leadership Award.

Earle Jones

Steve Hasskamp

Steve Hasskamp enjoyed a long and noteworthy career in Broadcasting that began when he worked at a radio station when he was in High School.  From there, he went on to become a VP & Director of Engineering for a TV station for many years and was also a former broadcast station owner. 

When Steve sold his broadcast station, he worked at Continental Electronics in Dallas in the AM & FM broadcast department before transitioning to high power VLF, LF and shortwave projects around the world.

Steve ended up forming Rock Tex Technologies in Lubbock, Texas and began refurbishing Continental transmitters exclusively and other Continental products.  Ultimately Rock Tex became the largest  parts supplier of transmitter parts and other broadcast related services.

Jerry Gumbert

Jerry Gumbert is the President and Chief Executive Officer of AR&D.

Perry Priestley

Perry Priestley has worked in the professional broadcast industry for over 49 years. He joined Broadcast Electronics in June 2019 in the position of Chief Operating Officer and now is the Chief Sales Officer. Previously he held the position of CEO at Anywave Communication Technologies Inc. He has also held positions in Sales and Business Development with Linear Industries Brazil, Ibiquity Digital Corporation (now Xperi), Thales-France (now Thomson Broadcast), EEV-Marconi, and Philips (Pye TVT) in the UK. Perry has presented at over 200 technical broadcast conferences worldwide, has been the lead commercial coordinator in notable projects around the world, and has been a significant contributor to many new product releases in the radio and television broadcast market.

Perry earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from Cambridge University, England, and a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Telecommunications from Cambridge College of Technology.

Jessica Jett Hill

Jessica Jett Hill holds dual roles at Advantage Systems, Inc. as Vice President of Digital and Director of Logistics. As VP of Digital, she oversees digital sales team training and client pitches, and evaluates digital solutions offered by Advantage Systems Interactive.  Jessica also handles behind-the-scenes details for Advantage Systems as the leading Revenue Generation partner in the Broadcast Industry, contributing to process and presentation development.

She joined the company in 2003 as a Project Manager and played a key role in establishing Advantage Systems Interactive, which has evolved into a full-service digital agency. Jessica collaborates with small businesses and broadcast sales reps, shaping digital strategies, overseeing training and proposals, and coordinating projects nationwide.

With a background in the radio industry, her true passion lies in marketing, particularly assisting small businesses. She has gained valuable insights from her experience as a Sales Rep, Promotions Director, and local business Marketing Coordinator, and excels at simplifying complex concepts for others.

David Ostmo

David Ostmo is a Regional Engineering Director for the Sinclair Broadcast Group based in San Antonio, Texas. He oversees the technical operations for 27 Sinclair owned stations spread out over 14 markets in Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Nebraska and Utah.

Since becoming a Regional Engineer for Sinclair in 1998, Ostmo was involved in several broadcast industry initiatives including the DTV transition, station HD conversions, spectrum repack and the current roll out of ATSC 3.0. He’s overseen major station construction projects in San Antonio, El Paso and Beaumont, Texas in addition to significant facility renovations in Oklahoma City and Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ostmo began working at KABB-TV in San Antonio, Texas in 1992 as Director of Operations and Engineering. For 21-years he was in charge of commercial and news production in addition to On-Air Operations and Engineering. In that capacity Ostmo produced live coverage of 71 football games, parades, and special events.

David’s broadcast career started in 1976 as a radio announcer and production assistant for KGLO Radio and TV in Mason City, Iowa. Ostmo was Program Director at KCPS Radio in Burlington, Iowa when he returned to the television side of the industry in 1980. He worked at five different TV stations in Tulsa, Oklahoma before moving to Texas.

Broadcast History is Ostmo’s passion. He began writing on the subject while he was a columnist for TV Technology in the late 1980s. His personal library includes 1,500 books on broadcasting and motion pictures dating back to the early 1900s. Ostmo is a frequent speaker around the country delivering presentations about the evolution of broadcasting.
